Mike O’Dell was born in Pasadena, California, and later moved to Bakersfield. After graduating from Highland High School in 1973, Mr. O’Dell attended San Diego State University where he received his BA with honors. Mr. O’Dell completed his education at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, receiving his Juris Doctorate in 1980 and was admitted to the California bar in December of 1980.
As with many of the members of the firm, Mr. O’Dell began his legal career with the predecessor to Clifford & Brown upon graduation from law school. Mike has been a partner in the firm since 1985. He maintains a general civil litigation practice with an emphasis on business and commercial litigation, construction matters, government/municipal entity defense, personal injury, products liability and wrongful death defense, with numerous jury trials to verdict. Mr. O’Dell also has experience in arguing appellate matters, with several successful outcomes to his credit.
Mr. O’Dell is a member and former director of the Kern County Bar Association, the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel and an Associate member in the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). He has served as an active volunteer and board member of numerous community organizations including the Kern County Soccer Foundation, AYSO, St. Francis Parish School Board, and the Diocesan Advisory Board of Education for the Diocese of Fresno.
Mike and his wife Linda have been married for over 42 years, have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. In addition to spending time with the grandchildren, they enjoy travel and working on the family “Campo” in the Patagonia region of Southern Chile. Mike is an avid bee keeper, wood worker, and waterskier in his spare time.
