Joanne L. Pierce was raised in San Diego and has lived in Bakersfield since 2019. Her husband is a Bakersfield native and a Deputy Public Defender for the County of Kern. They are the proud parents of their one-year-old son who is the joy of their lives.
Joanne focuses her practice in the areas of personal injury defense, business law, real property law, and general litigation. Since her admission to the California State Bar in 2016, she worked on civil and criminal appeals, served as a Deputy City Attorney for the City of San Diego, and has assisted clients on a broad range of civil litigation matters. During Joanne’s time with the San Diego City Attorney’s Office, she took numerous cases to trial, worked in a vertical capacity prosecuting Drug DUIs, was awarded Deputy of the Month, and gained specialized knowledge on prosecuting impaired driving.
While at California Western School of Law, Joanne served as President of the Student Bar Association and was an accomplished member of the moot court team where she and her partners won first place at the Pepperdine Entertainment Law Moot Court competition, and second place at the Whittier National Juvenile Law Moot Court competition. Joanne was awarded Best Oralist for her advocacy at the Whittier National Juvenile Law Moot Court competition. Upon graduation from California Western, Joanne continued to participate in the moot court program serving as a coach and adjunct faculty member. Joanne was inducted into the National Order of Scribes in 2015 for achievement in research and writing.
Joanne is a member of the Kern County Bar Association and has served on the board of the Women Lawyers Section.
